Posterior Cruciate Ligament (PCL) Tear

The posterior cruciate ligament (PCL), known for its strength, is less frequently injured compared to other knee ligaments. A common cause of PCL injury is a motor vehicle accident, where the knee forcefully impacts the car dashboard. Initial treatment involves rest, ice, elevation, and compression. Physical therapy, including progressive strengthening and functional exercises, can aid in the recovery process. In most cases, surgery is not necessary for PCL injuries.
