Trochanteric Bursitis

A bursa serves as a fluid-filled sac that reduces friction between body tissues. Trochanteric bursitis, characterized by inflammation of a bursa, typically arises from excessive strain on the bursa located between the IT Band and the greater trochanter. Common indications and symptoms involve pain on the outer part of the hip bone, which can worsen when lying on the affected side, standing on the affected leg, or engaging in prolonged walking. Treatment frequently encompasses rest, ice, compression, physical therapy incorporating stretching and gradual strengthening, and in some cases, a steroid injection may provide relief.
