Ulnar Nerve Injuries

This particular injury commonly occurs due to excessive valgus stress applied to the elbow during repetitive throwing motions, particularly during the cocking phase. In some cases, direct trauma to the nerve within the cubital tunnel (known as hitting your funny bone) can result in nerve damage. Symptoms often include tingling and numbness experienced in the ring and pinky fingers, which may arise during or after throwing or with prolonged elbow flexion.

Implementing changes to throwing technique, utilizing bracing if necessary, and engaging in therapeutic exercises can offer potential relief. However, if the problem persists or if there is prolonged weakness, surgical intervention may be required.
